Who Was the Late Engineer Saeed Abdolmaleki?

In Memory of the Late Eng. Saeed Abdolmaleki

The late Eng. Saeed Abdolmaleki, born on July 3, 1958, in Abadan, was a distinguished, committed, and highly experienced figure in Iran’s oil and drilling industry. He devoted a significant part of his life to serving his homeland and contributing to the development of Iran’s oil industry.

During the eight-year Iran–Iraq imposed war, driven by a deep sense of responsibility toward his homeland and people, he joined the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and courageously and sincerely contributed to the defense of Iran’s sacred territory. His service during those difficult years reflected a profound sense of responsibility, sacrifice, and commitment—qualities that continued to define his professional life in the years that followed.

On January 28, 1985, he joined the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and simultaneously pursued his academic and professional development in the drilling industry. At the Shahid Ghanavati Technology Training Institute of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), he studied Petroleum Engineering at the bachelor’s level, strengthening his scientific and technical foundation for a professional career in the drilling industry.

The combination of academic knowledge with extensive field and operational experience made him a highly capable and respected specialist in drilling operations. Through his technical expertise, organizational commitment, exemplary sense of responsibility, and managerial capabilities, the late Eng. Saeed Abdolmaleki steadily advanced in his professional career and was eventually appointed Head of Drilling Operations at the National Iranian Drilling Company—a position in which he served for many years with competence, integrity, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Throughout his years at the National Iranian Drilling Company, he was not only a responsible manager but also a knowledgeable and respected expert in drilling operations. His expertise, experience, and professional perspective earned him a distinguished reputation among his colleagues and professionals in the field.

After 25 years, one month, and one day of dedicated service within the National Iranian Oil Company, on March 1, 2010, he voluntarily took early retirement and bid farewell to public service, specifically to the National Iranian Drilling Company. Yet, this was not the end of his journey in the oil industry.

Following his transition to the private sector, from 2009 to 2019, he continued his professional career for exactly ten years in his field of expertise, namely the management and leadership of drilling operations, sharing his valuable knowledge and experience with Iran’s private oil industry.

In total, he devoted more than three decades of his professional life to drilling operations. Throughout these years, he placed knowledge, experience, commitment, and professional ethics at the heart of his work. As a result, his name became recognized with respect and admiration among professionals and specialists as one of the distinguished pioneers and authorities in drilling operations in Iran.

The professional life of the late Eng. Saeed Abdolmaleki is more than a record of years of service and organizational responsibilities. It is the story of a man who combined knowledge with commitment, expertise with responsibility, and leadership with integrity and professional ethics, dedicating a significant part of his life to serving Iran and its oil industry.

However, on July 7, 2021, following his battle with the global COVID-19 pandemic, after decades of service and dedication, he answered the call of his Creator and departed this world.

Perhaps the most beautiful yet heartbreaking part of this farewell is that the man who had spent years serving Iran and its oil industry ultimately joined his beloved and courageous son, the late Eng. Meraj Abdolmaleki, in the heavens. His son had himself passed away years earlier, at the height of his youth, sharing his father’s deep devotion to the oil industry and the prosperity of Iran.

Today, the names and memories of Saeed and Meraj Abdolmaleki represent, for their family, friends, colleagues, and the oil industry community, a profound bond between knowledge, expertise, commitment, ethics, and love for Iran and its oil industry. Their legacy did not end with their passing; it continues to live on in the memories of all those who knew them.

May their souls rest in peace, may their memories be cherished, and may their names remain eternal.

We respectfully invite you, dear visitor, to honor the years of sincere service and dedication of this distinguished pioneer of Iran’s oil and drilling industry, and to remember a father and son who devoted a significant part of their lives to serving Iran and its oil industry, by reciting Surah Al-Fatiha and asking Almighty God to grant peace and blessings to their souls.

O Allah, forgive them and have mercy upon them.
